Vietnam to Reduce Auto Import Duties in 2012

According to Vietnamese newspaper of Oct. 17, from January 1, 2012, Vietnam will cut down import duties on automobiles. The duty rates on original autos will reduce to 68%-78% from current 72%-83%.

Therein, the rate of 82% on certain import autos is expected to reduce to 78%; that of autos with no less than 2.5L displacement will reduce to 74% from 77%; and the rate 72% on certain autos will reduce to 68%;

Trucks with no more than 5-ton load will enjoy 65% down from 68%;

Trucks with 5-10 ton load will keep at 50%;

Trucks with 10-20 tons, 20-24 tons, 24-45 tons and over 45 tons will

remain at 25%, 20%, 5%, and 0% respectively;

Ambulances are expected to get the rate 15%.
