As if to prepare for the visit of the Saudi commerce and industry minister, India lifted an anti-dumping duty on imports of a chemical from the country that is used to manufacture woven sacks for cement and grain.

The finance ministry said in a notification dated December 30 that it revokes the duty imposed on imports of the subject goods (polypropylene) originating in or exported from Saudi Arabia.

India had imposed a 6.5% duty on imports of polypropylene from Saudi Arabia, Oman and Singapore. The duty has been removed on imports from Saudi Arabia only. Saudi commerce minister Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah is on a visit to India and is leading a 35-member business delegation.
