Philippines Might Raise Beer Excise Tax

According to Philippine newspaper of Feb. 21, Philippine ministry of finance puts forward a single excise bill, aiming to increase the excise tax on low-end beers by 140% from 10.41 pesos/liter to 25 pesos/liter and increase that by 21% on import high-end beers, while the low-end take up 75% shares on its market.

Asia Brewery International Limited has stated its objection to the excise raise, asserting that the bill will "kill" Philippine beer industry.
