Myanmar Suspends Agriculture-related Import Duties

Reported by the New Light of Myanmar, a Burmese newspaper, Myanmar's financial authority has granted an exemption from business tax to agricultural product imports and sales for nine months from July 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.
The tax-free items reportedly include chemical fertilizers, farm chemicals, agricultural equipment and machinery.
The government has also prolonged the tax exemption by six months for export goods including rice, beans, corns, sesames, rubbers, freshwater and seawater products and some animal products; their exemption for this year is from February 15 till July 14, which is to expire soon.
