Russia: Reduction in Tomato & Cucumber Import Duty

From August 23 import duties for tomatoes and cucumbers will be reduced, as Russia enters the WTO. The duties relating to other vegetables will remain unchanged.

According to the current Common Customs Tariff of the Customs Union the import duty for tomatoes in the period which covers August 23 (from June 1 to September 30) should be 15%, but no less than 0.1 Euro per 1 kg, while the duty which is applied to tomatoes in Russia now is 15%, but no less than 0.12 Euro per kg.

The import duty for tomatoes in the period from January 1 to March 31 and from April 1 to April 30 will remain the same as before, which is 15%, but no less than 0.08 Euro per 1 kg. The duty for the period May 1-14,will be reduced from the current 15%, but no less than 0,12 Euro per 1 kg, to 15%, but no less than 0.08 Euro per 1kg, in the period May 15-31 and June 1 to September 30 – from 15%, but no less than 0.12 Euro, to 15%, but no less than 0.1 Euro per 1 kg.

From October 1 to 30 the duty is the same as before, which is 15%, but no less than 0.12 Euro per 1 kg. Same duty keeps for periods November 11 to December 20 and December 21 -31, which is 15%, but no less than 0.08 Euro per 1 kg.

The import duty for cucumbers starting from August 23 will be reduced to 15%, but no less than 0.08 Euro, against the ex-15%, but no less than 0.12 Euro, for this period. And this duty will be valid all the year round. According to the current tariff in the period from May 16 to October 31, and in the period from November 11 to December 31, the duty is 15%, but no less than 0.12 Euro per 1 kg.

The import duty for potatoes after Russia entered the WTO has not changed and is equal to 5% for regular potatoes, and 15%for the potatoes to be used for starch. Imports of onions, cabbage, carrots, turnips, beat roots and other vegetables will be charged 15% duty just the same way as they are charged now.
