Vietnam to Put High Duties on Sur-Quota Imports

Reported by Vietnamese economic news of August 8, Vietnam's financial ministry recently noticed that the government will adopt high duties on quota-exceeding imports from August 18, 2012.

Specifically, for the imports beyond quota, the duty rate 80% will apply to raw sugar without spice or pigment; 100% will apply to spiced and pigmented sugar; 85% will apply to refined sugar; 80-90% will apply to unprocessed tobacco and its wastes under HS code 24.01; and 50% or 60% will apply to salt, crystallized sodium chloride, sea water under HS code 25.01.
