Algeria Cancels Poultry-Raising Import Duties

[2012-09-21 10:16:29]

Reportedly, the Algerian government has decided to cancel the import duties and value-added tax from September 1, 2012 to August 1, 2013 on corn, soybean, other stock feeds and feed products.

According to statistics, Algeria now has 35,000 poultry raisers with a total annual turnover of USD 1.5 billion and depends on import for its corn and soybean supply. But since this June, international prices for corn and soybean have been up 45% and 30% year-on-year respectively, and those of other feeds will keep upward till 2015 at least.

So, to support its poultry industry and supply, the government cancels the relevant import duties/tax.
