Russia Sets Textile/Apparel Import Tariff Concession Rules

 
According to China MOFCOM news, the Russian government has recently released its rules on textile/apparel import tariff concession based on its WTO membership.

The Russian textile/apparel import duties will be lowered year-by-year till the expiry years of Russian commitment fulfillment, which range from 2013 to 2017, involving textile raw silks, wools, industrial textile products, pure cotton suits, home textiles, etc, most of which will be subject to final import-duty bound rates by 2015.

Notably, more than 30 import duties will be reduced from compound duties to single ad valorem or specific duties. For instance, pure-cotton trousers and dress will be relieved from compound duties to single specific duty at EUR 2.2/kg; pure-cotton women’s and children’s sweat suits will be relieved to single specific duty at EUR 1.75/kg; pure-cotton gloves will be relieved to a 10% ad valorem duty; pure-cotton aprons and other home cotton textiles will be relieved to a 6% ad valorem duty.
