Papua New Guinea to Raise Sugar Import Duties

Reported by Papua New Guinea news, the Papua New Guinea authority indicates that it will raise its sugar import duties and subsidy for domestic sugar makers in its 2013 budget.

As directed by the WTO, the last Papua New Guinea government slashed its sugar import duty rate from 70% to 35%, leading to a big impact from increasing sugar imports on domestic sugar industry.
