Reportedly, Bangladesh authority has requested Turkey to revoke its 17.5% import duties on apparel from Bangladesh as the Turkish duties heavily impact the Bengalese sale to the Europe.

According to Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau, the Turkish duties, which were started from July 2011, have resulted in a year-on-year 9.21% decrease in the apparel export during July-September 2012.

Over 2011-2012, compared with 2010-2011, Bengalese exports of knitwear devalued from USD 272 million to USD 124 million and exports of woven fabrics devalued from USD 245 million to USD 231 million.
