Egypt Higher Import Duties on Reflective/Colored Glasses

To protect domestic industry, Egypt financial ministry agrees to raise the import duty rates on some glass products, including 10% heightened to 20% on reflective glass, colored glass and transparent glass.

Previously, as only plate glass was produced in Egypt, the state gave lower duties to importing reflective and colored glasses to meet domestic consumption.

Currently, Egyptian yearly output of glasses is more than 600,000 tons, with about 300,000 tons to export.
