Malaysia Imposes Anti-dumping Duties on China, Taiwan and Other Asian Steel Wire Rod Makers

Malaysia will enforce anti-dumping duties on a number of companies from Taiwan, China, Indonesia and South Korea that export steel wire rods to Malaysia, the Ministry of International Trade and Industries said in a statement on Feb. 18, 2013.

The Malaysian government launched an investigation after Amsteel Mills, a unit of Lion Corp, claimed that imports of steel wire rods had caused "material injury" to the domestic market as they were being priced much lower than their prices in their markets of origin, the ministry said.

The measure will be effective for five years from Wednesday, the ministry said. It did not disclose the name of the companies that will be hit by the anti-dumping duties.
