Mexico to Put 25%-30% Duties on Footwear from Non-FTA Countries/Regions

According to Mexican Minister of Finance, the Mexican government will impose import duties at 25%-30% on footwear from the countries/regions without free trade agreement (FTA) with Mexico.

Mexico will only permit the following 9 customs districts to deal with footwear imports: LAZAROCARDENAS, MANZANILLO, CIUDADDEMEXICO, GUADALAJARA, VERACRUZT, IJUANA, AEROERTOINTERNACIONALDELACIUDADDEMEXICO, CIUDADHIDALGO, NUEVAREDO.

The government will set up a footwear importer registration system. Before the import, the importer should 5 days in advance notify Mexican tax bureau with submission of purchase invoice, insurance policy, loading list, etc.
