Zhejiang Province Exp & Imp High in May, Exp Value Beyond 180 Bln Yuan

According to Hangzhou Customs statistics, this May, Zhejiang Province export-import value totaled CNY 235.61 billion, up 20% year-on-year (YOY). Therein, export value was 184.28 billion yuan, up 16.7%; import value 51.33 billion yuan, up 33.1%; the monthly export and import both hit a record high.
From January to May, the Province's export and import totaled 996.05 billion yuan, up 19.6% YOY, accounting for 9.3% of China’s total; therein, export value 750.2 billion yuan, up 13.6%, accounting for 12.8% of national export; import value 245.85 billion yuan, up 42.9%, accounting for 5.0% of national import.
Export growth was shown in the export markets like the United States, South Korea and "Belt and Road" countries. The EU was still the Province's largest export market, January-May export reaching 166.91 billion yuan, up 11.4%, accounting for 22.2%; export to the USA reached 139.19 billion yuan, up 17.3%, accounting for 18.6% of the total export; export to South Korea reached 19.16 billion yuan, up 23.1%, accounting for 2.6% of the total export; in addition, export to the "Belt and Road" countries reached 248.41 billion yuan, up 12.7%.
During January-May, export of electro-mechanical products grew rapidly by 16.1% YOY, accounting for 43.6% of the total export. Therein, ships, data processing equipment and mobile phones were exported up 29%, 56.5% and twice YOY respectively. Meanwhile, export of traditional labor-intensive products (like textile and garment) increased by 9.2% YOY, accounting for 35.8%.
Regarding imported goods, staple commodities continued to grow significantly. In January-May, the imports of iron ore, petroleum products and coal increased largely by 90.4%, 77.7% and 1.4 times respectively; the imports of electromechanical products and high-tech products increased by 27.1% and 35% YOY respectively.
