Guangdong Trade with “Belt & Road” Countries: Value Down in Aug 2017 YOY

According to Guangdong Customs statistics, for January-August 2017, Guangdong Province’s trade with the countries within "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" (the “Belt & Road” countries) totaled 952.2 billion yuan, up 19.1% year-on-year (YOY), accounting for 22.2% of Guangdong's gross foreign trade. Therein, Guangdong export reached 633.7 billion yuan, up 20.9%, accounting for 23.6% of gross export; import value 318.5 billion yuan, up 15.5%, accounting for 19.8% of gross import.

This August alone, the trade value dropped to 116.1 billion yuan, down 0.2% YOY and down 3.3% from July: therein, export value 71.68 billion yuan, down 5.5% YOY and 10% from July; import 44.43 billion yuan, up 9.7% YOY and 9.8% from July.

In August, Guangdong export of electromechanical products reached 48.38 billion yuan, up 1.2%, accounting for 67.7%; therein, telephones worth 4.15 billion yuan, up 7.2%; color TV sets worth 1.67 billion yuan, down 20%. Meanwhile, export of traditional labor-intensive products reached 13.27 billion yuan, down 20%, accounting for 18.6%; therein, textile garments worth 6.18 billion yuan, down 21.3%.

In August, Guangdong import of electromechanical products reached 25.54 billion yuan, up 7.3%, accounting for 57.5%, including integrated circuits worth 10.83 billion yuan, down 3.2%; automatic data processing devices worth 1.98 billion yuan, down 11.5%; LCD panels worth 510 million yuan, up 3.9 times. Meanwhile, import of agricultural products reached 2.55 billion yuan, up 6.2%.
