Solid Wastes Import to Shanghai Up YOY in Jan-July 2017

According to Shanghai Customs statistics:

In January-July 2017, Shanghai Customs District imported solid wastes 1,416,000 tons, up 34.1% year-on-year (YOY); worth RMB 5.8 billion yuan, up 64.3%; average import price at 4,099.2 yuan per ton, up 22.5%.

For July alone, the import was 198,000 tons, down 16.1% from June and up 11% YOY; average import price at 3,866.1 yuan per ton, down 5.4% from June and up 25.1% YOY.

The import was mainly by ordinary trade mode, down in processing trade volume; and dominated by private enterprises, less volume by state-owned enterprises.

In the first 7 months, Shanghai imported 384,000 tons from Japan, up 28.5%, accounting for 27.1% of the total; 351,000 tons from ASEAN, up 55.2%, accounting for 24.8%; 246,000 tons from the United States, up 28.1%, accounting for 17.4%; 163,000 tons from the EU, up 48.2%, accounting for 11.5%.

Specific goods: waste plastics were imported 984,000 tons, up 48%, accounting for 75.8% of the total imports, and average price at 3,874.3 yuan per ton, up 16.1%; waste paper 186,000 tons, up 4.5%, and at 1,739.5 yuan per ton, up 40.4%; scrap metals 128,000 tons, up 27.5%, and at 9,414.8 yuan per ton, up 31.1%.
