Poultry and Related Product of Belgium Are Prohibited to Enter China

General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P.R.C. gives notice on prohibiting the poultry and related product direct or indirect imported, posted or carried from Belgium.

In December 23, 2008, Belgium makes urgent report to OIE that during December 16 to 19, one case of H5 bird flu was occurred in Limburg and Oost-Vlaanderen respectively of Belgium. In order to prevent such disease spreading into China and protect the safety of China stockbreeding industry, the government releases the following announcement:

I、Prohibit import poultry and other product from Belgium in direct or indirectly way, stop signing License of Inward Animal and Plant Quarantine on poultry and the related product from Belgium, and cancel the License of Inward Animal and Plant Quarantine which has already issued.

II、Withdraw or destroy the poultry and related product which was delivered on or after December 23, 2008. The poultry and related product delivered before December 23, 2008 will be released if passed the bird flu inspection.

III、Forbid posting or traveler carrying poultry and related product from Belgium to China. Once discovered, all the commodities will be withdrew or destroyed.

IV、If any poultry or related product of Belgium in such means of transport of international vessel, airplane and train passing or stopping in China, shall be sealed. The poultry raised or used by the staffs themselves on the means of transport shall be kept in the cage well. The waste and hogwash shall make harmless treatment under the supervision of Administration for Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine and can’t be deserted without authorization.

V、The poultry and related product of Belgium entered into China in an illegal way which was discovered by customs and frontier department, shall be destroyed under the supervision of Administration for Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine.

VI、Anyone who breaks the upward stipulation, will be punished by the Administration for Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine according to Law of the People's Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine.
