Singapore's Jurong Port reported a healthy 16.95 percent growth in container throughput last year over 2007, falling just short of the one million box milestone.
The port handled 973,000 TEUs from January to December, 141,000 more boxes that in 2007.
Jurong's throughput soared earlier this year before slowing slightly in December.
