The economy of Chile is booming and growth is expected to be 12pc this year, Chile is now the third largest market for Argentine beef, taking 11,000 tons for the second 6 months of 2008. Cruise ships are now delivering over 400,000 passengers a year on the ABC Triangle, which is Argentina, Brazil and Chile, so the government of Chile is to build a new port in Santiego costing US$800 million.
Tourism generated 200,000 jobs in Chile and a similar number in Buenos Aires in 2008.
The cruise liners all re stock in Argentina, with beef, lamb, fish and vegetables making this new trade very beneficial to the meat industry.
