AQSIQ held national food safety emergency meeting

On the morning of September 14, AQSIQ held food safety emergency video-phone meeting of national quality inspection system to convey and implement the important guiding spirit of CPC Central Committee and the State Council on strengthening food safety work and on the severe food safety accident of Sanlu baby milk powder contaminated by melamine, and to deploy emergency treatment work and recent work. The meeting required that all quality inspection system should initiate I level emergency mechanism according to the deployment of CPC Central Committee and the State Council, should make it an important political task to solve Sanlu baby mild powder problem and to strengthen food safety work. The meeting sent four work groups to Hebei, Guangdong, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia to supervise and inspect the emergency treatment work of Sanlu baby milk powder accident. All quality inspection departments and organs were required to thoroughly examine all dairy producing enterprises and all dairy products, especially sanitary indexes like melamine. The production and sale of disqualified products should be immediately stopped and the products should be sealed up. Disqualified products that had entered markets should be immediately taken off shell, sent back and recalled to prevent new harmful influence. Related departments should accelerate standards and test methods formulation and revision, test technology research, and improve service level and controlling ability. The meeting also required all quality inspection departments examining thoroughly all monitor work to ensure all monitor system being fully implemented. Meanwhile, responsibility investigating system should be fully implemented and related enterprises and direct person-in-charge should be seriously investigated and punished.
