AQSIQ inspects 9.6 million batches of entry-exit goods in 1st 7 months

According to a report released by AQSIQ on August 26, in the first seven months of the year, the entry and exit goods valued at 1482.112 billion US dollars, up by 26.4% over the same period last year. 9,637,100 batches of goods with the value of 679.105 billion US dollars were inspected and quarantined by AQSIQ, up by 2.08% and 30.4% respectively, accounting for 45.82% of the total. 59,720 batches with the value of 29.851 billion US dollars were found to be substandard. The substandard rate is 0.62% in terms of batch, up by 0.04%, and 4.4% in terms of value, up by 1.21%.
For entry inspection and quarantine, substandard products mainly included metallic minerals, cotton, oil seed and non-edible vegetable oil, non-metallic mineral products, and timber, which made up 47.56%, 4.08%, 4.06%, 2.67%, and 1.61% of the total value of substandard entry goods. The major problems concerned failing to meet the requirements agreed in contract, quality defects, shortage of quantity and weight, and carrying quarantine pests. The substandard goods were mainly from India, the United States, Australia, Japan and Thailand.
For exit inspection and quarantine, substandard products mainly included garments, footwear, small home appliances and similar electronic appliances, aquatic animal products, and food packaging materials(containers or utensils), respectively accounting for 6.7%, 3.58%, 3.11%, 2.46% and 1.59% of the total value of substandard goods leaving the country. The major problems concerned inadequate manufacturing or assembly, quality defects, improper designing, and excessive bacterial colony count or veterinary drug residue. The goods were mainly destined for such countries as Japan, the United States, South Korea, Germany and Russia.
From January to July, the entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies checked entry-exit personnel for 193,821,000 persons times, an increase of 1.96% compared with the same period last year. Of the total number, 2,348 were found to be with symptoms of certain diseases, down by 62.77%, and 201 were confirmed cases, up by 7.49%, Officers carried out medical examination of disease surveillance on travelers for 804,600 person times, up by 13.5%, with 291,000 cases confirmed, up by 19.44%. Blood tests were carried out on 756,000 travelers, up by 14.61%, with 312 found to be HIV positive, an increase of 18.63%. 703,100 received?vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases, up by 13.34%.
During this period, 35,645,300 standard containers were declared for inspection from entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies, up by 4.86%. Of these containers, 8,467,300 were inspected by port officers, up by 10.01%, 168,800 failed to fulfill inspection and quarantine standards, up by 53.62%, and 5,428,700 received treatment of sanitation, disinfection and disinfestations, up by 13.02%.
Meanwhile, inspection and quarantine officers inspected 13,043,600 entry-exit transport vehicles, of which, 831,400 received sanitation treatment, and 896,000?disinfection.
