Li Changjiang visits Olympic food and port safety

July 31, Minister of AQSIQ, Secretary of Party Leadership Group Li Changjiang, Member of Party Leadership Group Guo Rubin and related people went to Beijing Capital International Airport to inspect Olympic food and port safety work.

On the morning of July 31, Li Changjiang and related people first went to Beijing Airport Inflight Kitchen Ltd near the airport, which provides food for Olympic competing venues during Olympic. Li Changjiang and related other people changed clothes and went deeply into producing workshops of the company to inspect producing flow and sanitation status after disinfection treatment. Li Changjiang carefully examined all inspection equipments of the company, consulted the workers for daily process, and asked principal of the company of detailed monitor and control methods on transportation chains.

The principal of the company expressed when giving introductions that the enterprise would organize production and process well to ensure food safety even with no profit. The company hired a foreign food and beverage manager who once participated in food supply work for Sydney Olympic, and was confident on Beijing Olympic food safety. He said that the inspection equipment used by the company were advanced ones, especially the heavy metal residue tester which had not been used in Sydney Olympic. He believe the company could produce safe food and China will hold a successful and distinctive Olympic.

Li Changjiang gave full recognition on the work of the company such as production management and quality control. He pointed that in order to serve Olympic food well, many enterprises gave up profits and took lots of effective measures such as opening Olympic production workshop, appointing special people and position to ensure products meeting Olympic requirements. Special cars and GPS were introduced in transportation chain to ensure food safety. All the measures helped a lot for Olympic food safety and supply, and Li Changjiang hoped that the company could strengthen management and carry out effective spot monitor during Olympic to ensure food safety.

Li Changjiang also gave full recognition on department-united spot office of Public Security, Industry and Commerce, Inspection and quarantine and Company. He also required introducing the working method to other Olympic designated supply enterprises.

Arriving at Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3, Li Changjiang and his group first came to entry-exit passage and Olympic Entry passage to visit workers at the front line from all over the country. The workers introduced to him world advanced inspection equipments and their using methods such as radiation detection instrument, nuclear radiation detection and measurement instrument, and portable nuclear biological and chemical radiation detection instrument. Li Changjiang and his group also visited monitor room, infectious disease examination room, and negative pressure isolation room. Li Changjiang was very interested in those advanced equipments and expressed that with these equipments, all problems can be detected promptly and solved as soon as possible.

In the video monitor room, Li Changjiang emphasized that video monitor room should be commanding center when emergency accidents burst out. In quarantine emergency work room, Li Changjiang reminded workers to consider all possible accidents and do duty well to ensure providing emergency equipments to related people as soon as possible when emergency accidents burst out.

At the end of the visit, Li Changjiang and his group listened to the report of Beijing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on Olympic inspection and quarantine work. He gave recognition on all inspection and quarantine works of the airport, and pointed that all departments were accelerating the implementation of all works with the approaching of Olympics according to the deployment of our Central Party Committee and the State Council. All work should be done carefully and strictly.

Li Changjiang emphasized that quality inspection system contribute to Olympics mainly in the following two sides: ensure safety and serve enthusiastically. The airport was important service window for foreign friends to see Beijing and China. We must carefully implement all work tasks according to the deployment of our Central Party Committee and examine our work carefully to ensure everything went on well.

He required workers at the airport should be enthusiastic and implement quick inspection and release, work with smile to provide satisfying service to foreign friends from all over the world; should ensure safety, implement strict inspection, cooperate with other related departments, obtain effective information in advance and make sure key inspection points. He emphasized time and time again that the foundation and basis for a successful Olympic was safety. All workers at the front line should undertake responsibilities and ensure Olympic safety, and contribute to the success of Olympic Games.
