The inspection team headed by AQSIQ Vice Minister Zhi Shuping inspected special equipment safety management at the National Stadium, the main Olympic venue, June 13.
We should set more specific objectives, and take more stringent and sound supervision measures to fully ensure special equipment safety at all Olympic venues, said Zhi. Zhi asked officers of the National Stadium Corporation Ltd. and the operation team about safety management status of all special equipment there, and checked the operation of escalators and lifts. He greatly recognized the all-out efforts made by Beijing Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision to successfully complete work in such aspects as inspection and testing, registration for use, and personnel training as scheduled, though the time is limited and tasks assigned are difficult.
Greater importance should be attached to special equipment safety monitoring at the National Stadium, as it's the center of the core area for Beijing Olympics and focus of the world's attention. We should prevent any incident or failure concerning special equipment from occurring, and ensure our guests can enjoy 100% comfortable experience, said Zhi.
Zhi stressed that trial operation of the newly installed lifts should be strengthened to verify their safety and reliability, and operation management improved to ensure orderly and effective monitoring for the Games. Zhi required the operation team?to?conduct more drills to get ready for handling of all emergencies, and improve the contingency plans to enhance emergency response capabilities.
We need to make good use of the remaining time to improve security arrangements, so as to more strongly?support the country's efforts in hosting a successful Olympic Games, said Zhi.
Zhi was accompanied by related officers from AQSIQ's in-house Bureau of Special Equipment Safety Supervision and Beijing Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.
