On May 23, CNCA issued Emergency circular of developing qualification accreditation project of controlling and inspecting Olympic food and forbidden medicine, initiating the emergency plan ensuring Olympic food safety and related inspection bodies to gain legal qualification at the first time.

The circular emphasized that according to Inspection Plan for Controlling Olympic Food and Forbidden Medicine of The Organizing Committee for the Beijing Olympic Games and related requirements of AQSIQ, the 66 inspection lab recommended by AQSIQ and Ministry of Agriculture to BOCOG, referring to inspection projects of 17 forbidden medicines in 4 species of food-borne cordials, should gain legal qualification before June, 8. The labs should submit the applications before May 30 to certificate issuing bodies. According to the opinions of Food Safety Coordination Group of BOCOG and other related bodies, the inspection standards on 17 forbidden medicines in 4 species of animal-origin foods should be designated by the Group. Besides, CNCA decided that on the condition of strict documenting examination and approval on the labs, the certificate issuing bodies directly gave Olympic Food Safety Inspection Labs 4-month temporary qualification on inspection projects relating to food-borne cordials.
