Minister leads technical service teams to quake-hit areas

29 technical service teams for inspection and testing, health and epidemic prevention, and special equipment safety, headed by AQSIQ Minister and Secretary of Leading Party Group Li Changjiang, went to quake-hit areas in Sichuan, May 17.
Li, together with related officials from the administration, also visited quake-affected staff members of the quality supervision, inspection and quarantine departments in Sichuan.
After hearing the report of Sichuan Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, Sichuan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and Chengdu Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, Li contended his heartfelt sympathy to quake-affected staff members, and fully recognized the quick response and great efforts made by the related departments.
The mission of top priority at present, is to unite together to fight against the disaster. The Leading Party Group of AQSIQ has called on all inspection departments across the country to greatly support the national relief efforts, said Li.
AQSIQ has called on all quality inspection staff members nationwide to make donations for quake-hit areas, dispatched technical service teams comprised of 400 personnel specialized in inspection and testing, health and epidemic prevention, and special equipment safety to team up the front line's efforts, and provided more relief supplies to Sichuan, with over 350 tents allocated on the way, and 100,000 emergency medical kits and 10,000 bottles of mosquito repellent being produced at high speed to met the needs of quake victims and rescuers free of charge. Meanwhile, great support will be given for reconstruction of local quality inspection and quarantine departments in severely-hit areas.
Li encouraged the local departments to make use of their strengths in inspection and testing, special equipment investigation and epidemic prevention to prevent secondary disasters and play their role in relief work. Apart from self-rescue, the local departments are also urged to provide free-of-charge testing service for society, help enterprises to tackle difficulties in restoring normal production for quake zones, and create harmonious social environment by cracking down on counterfeits and ensuring quality and safety of relief supplies, especially food and living necessities.
Li, who led a number of these technical service teams, went to quake-hit areas such as Mianyang, Deyang, Mianzhu and Dujiangyan for relief work, and visited local staff members, their family, and team members working at the front line.
