Biggest dockyard on Yangtze River passes state inspection

THE largest dockyard and outfitting pier on the China's Yangtze River, built by Nantong Cosco Kawasaki Shipyard, has passed the acceptance inspection by the state maritime authority, Xinhua reported.



The two facilities are the core of the second phase expansion project of the Nantong Cosco-Kawasaki Shipyard. The dockyard is 500 metres long, 80 metres wide with a depth of 13.3 metres and a capacity of 500,000 tonnes. It can be used for building 10,000-TEU ships and VLCCs (very large crude carriers). The outfitting pier has a capacity of 300,000 tonnes.







The second phase expansion project of the shipyard can generate a shipbuilding capacity of 1.54 million tonnes after it's been completed.
