On Aug.28th, the first vessel of the two new generation 50000 DWT semi-submersible vessels, ordered by COSCO Shipping Company (sh600428) at Guangzhou Shipyard, started building at Guangzhou. A grand ceremony was held for the event. COSCO Shipping Company has signed a contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International Company for building two of this kind semi-submersible vessel. The first one will be delivered in September, 2010. The new vessel, which will be equipped with two independent engine rooms, two propellers and electric thruster, will be focused on marine engineering projects market.
