On April 3, the christening & delivery ceremony of DAPENG SUN, the first LNG carrier built in China, was grandly held at Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group. The carrier was mainly invested and owned by Chinese with foreign partners and the investors include COSCO, China Merchants and Australia LNG Pty. Ltd. Mr. Zhang Guobao, the Vice Chairmen of NDRC and Managing Director of Natural Resources Bureau, Mr. Ai Baojun, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Chen Xiaojin, President of CSSC, Capt. Wei Jiafu, President &CEO of COSCO, Mr. Zhang Fusheng, Executive VP of COSCO Group, Mr. Thomas King, President of Guangdong Dapeng LNG Co. and Mr. Noel Hart from North-west Shelf Shipping Service Company attended the ceremony. Capt. Wei Jiafu, on behalf of the investors, spoke highly of the delivery of the LNG carrier. He said it not only marked a milestone in the rapid development of Chinese shipbuilding industry and but also would lead Chinese shipping industry into a new era. COSCO would always be dedicated in providing excellent transportation service to customers and make its contribution to the development of Guangdong and the country's energy transportation.
