| 12 Dec 08 - Further to its departure from the Asia-South Africa service operated with PIL and K Line (ASA - 43581) (See related news), MISC Berhad announced the launch of a new dedicated Asia-South Africa service starting March 2009 (43583). The new service rotation will include Tanjung Pelepas and other ASEAN ports and it will provide MISC customers with significant additional capacity. MISC currently provides three of the seven 3,500-4,200 teu ships plying the ASA.Building on the successful track record in the South African market, MISC says it has decided the time is appropriate to further upgrade its presence in this market. Earlier this year, MISC has upgraded its South African organization and the next step is to add improved coverage of the ASEAN market connectivity to South Africa. Whilst leaving the longstanding ASA consortia, MISC says it expects to continue cooperation with K Line and PIL in the trade through slot exchanges. On their side, PIL and K Line will continue with a similar service (See 43582).Further details of the service will be announced in January.(Source : Press release / Alphaliner) |
