MOL opens Chennai auto logistics subsidiary

MOL said Friday it has established an India-based auto logistics subsidiary in Chennai The Japanese company said "the move is a response to rising production capacity of completed cars for India??s domestic market and export trades. Since export volume of completed cars from India is expected to increase, MOL established this company in Chennai to provide inland transport and export-related port services." MOL said it would use inland transport experience gained in similar enterprises in Thailand, Indonesia and China. Chennai has been dubbed the "Detroit of India" for its concentration of car manufacturing facilities. The Port of Chennai handles more car exports than any other in the country.
