CMA CGM and Deutsche Bahn discuss possible co-operation

11 Dec 08 - The French Line CMA CGM and Deutsche Bahn (DBAG), the German State Railway, reportedly consider joining forces and collaborating in the field of container transport. According to an article in today*s edition of the German Business daily &Handelsblatt*, CMA CGM head Jacques R. Saad谷 confirmed that a meeting with DBAG CEO Hartmut Mehdorn was scheduled for February 2009. However, Mr. Saad谷 did not go into detail and declined to specify the nature of any joint undertakings between the two companies. A DBAG spokesperson confirmed that top-level talks will be held and that the railway company was basically &open* for collaboration with the French shipping line. However, he pointed out that it was &too early* to really judge which kind of cooperation 每 if any - would make sense economically.(Source : Handelsblatt / Alphaliner)
