QPC Gets In An Overall Bumper Harvest Its first annual throughput increase of 40

    Inspired by the support and care from Beijing, Shandong Province, Qingdao City and MOC, QPC people have fulfilled the four major targets of the year ranging from production and management to human resources and life improvement. With an sharp edge to cut into the market, the five major cargo types including coal, crude oil, iron ore, container and grain go hand in hand, while the small and new cargo strive to overtake, which contributes to the overall fast development. Without increasing of new terminal capacity, the overall throughput of this year increases 40.87 million, a better follow-up of the 30 million ton increase of last year, which is equal to the annual volume of the year 1994.

    The year 2007 witnessed a further expansion of opening-up. On May 20th, Rizhao Container Terminal Project was jointly launched by QPC and Rizhao Port Group, which got in an annual volume increase of 70%. Sept. 8th saw the ground-breaking of Qianwan Phase IV, which will change QPC??s situation of lack of capacity since the 10th-five-year-plan period. On Nov. 16, QQCTN was established by QPC, COSCO, Maersk, DP World and Pan Asia to operate the 3408m quay on the south side the Qianwan Bay, which is the longest alongside box facility in the world.  The Group also jointed hands with Emskip to operate a 55,000-ton-capacity cold store in the new Port, and with Shandong Bohai Entity to launch the soy bean processing base. Its cooperation with Kumba Resources Limited has been upgraded. All these have greatly lifted the international image of the port group.

    Contrary to the increase of volume, its energy consumption resorts to be intensive. And this makes it a leading example of energy-saving and environment-friendly ports. QPC lays much significance on safety, environment and the saving of energy, and actively promotes a clean production and ecological management. Its comprehensive energy consumption per unit has dropped by 4.1% than that of last year. The harmony between man and nature, production and environment, and port and society has further enriched the global image of the world-class port.

    For yeas, QPC actively exercises its social responsibility to the motherland. Its expected revenue of 2007 is RMB 8 billion, up 13%, and the Group is the largest taxpayer of Qingdao for four years in a row, and it has created great job opportunities inside and outside the port. And this was the second consecutive year that it was rated top AAA SOE of city.

    In 2008, QPC will consistently implement the spirit of the CPC 17th National Congress, stick to Priority of Quality and Speed, and further carry out its scientific development plan to achieve the target of 300 million tons, 10 million TEU and an revenue of RMB 10 billion.
