APL has launched the industry*s first day-definite, full-containerload service from Asia to virtually any US destination, and a new feeder service linking Tallinn and St Petersburg with North Europe, Asia and the US via APL-operated services.
APL Logistics has introduced the APL Guaranteed Continental, service, connecting the ports of Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, and Yantian with virtually any ZIP code in the continental US. The service guarantees deliveries of full-containerload cargo on a specified date, or shippers receive a 20% refund. APL Logistics pioneered the day-definite ocean freight market in August 2006 with OceanGuaranteed™ 每 a guaranteed service for LCL cargo that was designed to provide importers with a cost-effective, expedited surface alternative to airfreight. According to APL Logistics president Brian Lutt, customers said they wanted a similar service for full-containerload shipments. APL Logistics said its new service will provide the industry*s fastest transit times between key ports in China and customers* US locations, e.g. full-containerload shipments from Hong Kong to a consignee*s door in Boston will take only fifteen days. The service gives cargo priority stowage on APL*s vessels in Asia, making it among the first cargo discharged after vessels arrive at APL*s marine terminals in Los Angeles and Seattle. Ocean containers destined for the following thirteen metropolitan areas are loaded onto specially designed long-haul chassis: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Carolinas (North and South), Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Michigan, Nashville, New York / New Jersey (including parts of Connecticut, Delaware and Pennsylvania), Ohio Valley and Reno. Cargo bound for any other US destination is transloaded into domestic highway trailers at a Los Angeles-based APL Logistics facility for non-stop road transport to the consignee*s door. Full port-to-door in-transit visibility is provided, including en-route updates from motor carriers, and customers receive one simplified invoice. APL has also launched a new feeder service linking Estonia and the Russian Baltic with Asia and the Americas, including a unique service over Zeebrugge. The new service 每 the North Baltic Express (NBX) 每 deploys two vessels on a fourteen- day rotation, calling on a weekly basis at Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Tallinn and St Petersburg (Petrolesport Terminal). The NBX service offers a unique connection from the congestion-free port of Zeebrugge to Petrolesport in St. Petersburg. The NBX service offers dedicated Asia-Europe connections from the SCX service via Zeebrugge as well as from the AEX and JEX services via Rotterdam. Outbound connections to the Far East will provide fast transit times via Rotterdam on the same services. The Americas will be served via Rotterdam on APL*s APX, ATS, ATN and EMX services. At Tallinn, the service provides seamless connectivity to the Moscow Express train service, which runs container trains twice a week to Moscow. |
