HK Port Booms
HONG Kong port operators, including Hutchison Whampoa Ltd and PSA International Pte, handled 3.6 percent more containers in August, as China's surging trade boosted sea-freight demand. Hong Kong, the world's second-busiest container port last year, handled 2.06 million 20-foot boxes last month, according to preliminary figures posted on the Port Development Council's Website. In the first eight months of the year, traffic rose 2.3 percent to 15.7 million containers.
