| Shanghai is the biggest port in the world. The port is connected with several inner ports and is important for the provisioning of the interland. Nowadays 95% of the trading business use container shipping, and the vessels are getting bigger and bigger by the day. So the want for a deepwater port existed, the port of Yangshan. This port just opened in December 2005. The handling capacity of this deepwater port is 18 million TEUs and this port will be the number 3 biggest port of the world. This is Yangshan’s first construction of 1.6 miles with 5 ports available for vessel. Even the biggest vessel of 8000 TEU can reach these ports. A new port city at the Luchaogang area will be built to facilitate the development of the new deepwater port. |
