THE longest road for cargo transport between China and Russia, linking the northern China city of Jixi to the Russian city of Ussuriisk, has opened to traffic, Xinhua reported.
The route runs 309 kilometres. Cargo can be transported directly to Russia after having cleared customs and been loaded onto trucks at Jixi.
To bring the new route into full play, Jixi has built the largest logistics facility and Sino-Russian farm product wholesale market in eastern Heilongjiang province.
The report said another five new routes for cargo movement between China and Russia will be opened in the next three years, one of which will connect Dalian, Harbin and Heihe to Russia's Blagoveschensk.
