According to the SASAC (State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council) statistics released on July 8, China's top state-owned enterprises (SOEs), those immediately under the umbrella of SASAC, made a big jump in patenting in 2007. As of the end of 2007, they had owned 45,547 valid patents, up 26.6%; 15,681 of which were valid invention patents, accounting for 34.4%.
