8,326 vying for patent bar

The patent bar exam for 2007 was held in 11 cities from November 3 to 4 with 8,326 engineers competing to seek a life in patent attorney business. 

The SIPO-administered exam was the 9th since 1992 and the 2nd since 2006 when a reform for the exam came into force.  The 8,326 attendants indicated no visible attendance drop which was expected due to increased exam frequency. 

SIPO changed the biyearly exam to an annual one last year to cater the market need of patent attorneys.  Test subjects were shrunk from 4 to 3, i.e. patent law, related laws and patent attorney practice.  Questions for the legal aspect of IPR practice were significantly added.

全国有8326人赶考专利代理人

本报讯　11月3日至4日，2007年全国专利代理人资格考试在全国11个城市考点同时举行，全国8326名考生在争夺进入专利代理行业的“敲门砖”。

据悉，今年的专利代理人资格考试，是国家知识产权局自1992年以来举办的第九次考试，也是2006年专利代理人资格考试改革后举行的第二次考试。今年考生人数并没有受到考试频率增大的影响，达到了8326人。

为了适应社会对专利代理人持续增长的需求，国家知识产权局自去年开始由每两年举行一次专利代理人资格考试改为每年举行一次，考试科目从4门减少到3门，分别为专利法律知识、相关法律知识和专利代理实务，加大了对知识产权法律知识的考察力度。
