Fees for plant variety protection shaved

According to a circular issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Finance, from September 1, an across-the-board reduction would happen to the fee schedule for the protection of new varieties of plants.  In addition to the total exemption of testing fee, filing fee and examination fee dropped 44.7% and 45.7% respectively while the annual fee plummeted by 80%.

The filing fee for each new variety fell from 1,800 yuan to 1,000 yuan; examination fee from 4,600 yuan to 2,500 yuan.  Within the protection term the annual fee is 1,000 yuan per year for the first six years and 1,500 yuan for the seventh year and beyond.  Testing fee is free of charge.(by Sun Fanghua)

中国大幅调低植物新品种保护费用

　　本报讯　（记者孙芳华北京报道）近日，中国国家发改委、财政部联合发出通知，从9月1日起植物新品种保护收费标准大幅度降低。申请费和审查费分别降低了44.7 %和45.7%，年费降低了80%左右，同时免除测试费。

该通知规定，植物新品种申请费、审查费、年费的收取标准调整为：每个品种的申请费由1800元降为1000元；审查费由4600元降为2500元；在保护期内，年费第1年至第6年每年1000元，以后每年1500元；不再收取测试费等其他任何费用。
