THE HISTORY of our firm dates back to January 1957 when China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), which is a non-governmental trade promotion organization, was authorized by the Central Government to organize a trademark agency to handle exclusively foreign-related trademark matters. Until the mid-1980''s the agency had been the sole trademark agency in China. A patent agency was organized within CCPIT in the early 1980''s when China began to establish a patent system. Attorneys of the agency were appointed members of the survey teams observing and studying major foreign patent systems abroad, entrusted by the government to organize training courses for patent attorney candidates, and participated in the drafting of the first Chinese Patent Law and other related laws and regulations. The agency was authorized by the government as the first Chinese intellectual property law firm to handle foreign-related patent matters. By merging the two agencies in 1993, we have acquired a team of the most experienced professionals in China. THE FIRM has witnessed the marvelous changes of the past five decades in China, and has been highly regarded for its role in the promotion of, the participation in and, the establishment and development of the intellectual property system in China. Filing request for the invalidation of patents. Helping with licenses and assignments of patents and their formal recordal. Maintaining patents in force. Filing and prosecuting Chinese, Hong Kong and Madrid Agreement or Madrid Protocol trademark applications. Instructing the filing and prosecution of trademark applications worldwide. Assistance in enforcing trademark rights against infringers. Advising on anti-counterfeiting measures. Negotiating for solutions of trademark related disputes. Filing oppositions to or applying for the cancellations of registrations held by other parties. Helping with licenses and assignments of trademarks and their formal recordal. Advising and assisting on the trade mark implications of business acquisitions and disposals. Providing trademark searching, watching and advertising services.
