Up Close And Personal With Edmund Kok, First Singaporean Biotechnology Patent Ag
[2008-12-23 16:56:24]
Mr. Edmund Kok, a 31-year-old National University of Singapore microbiology graduate, is the first Singaporean biotechnology patent agent registered locally. Currently working in Alban Tay Mahtani & de Silva, a local law firm specialising in intellectual property when IPOS interviewed him, Kok's work always involves the cutting edge of technology. However the workload can be very heavy - both sleepless nights and working on weekends are common, Kok said.
It took Kok five years of hard work to acquire the qualifications required by IPOS. These include a post-graduate certificate in intellectual property law and passing the IPOS qualifying examination for patent agents. Now, he has a demanding, satisfying and financially rewarding career using his interest in science and intellectual property to help clients patent and protect inventions.
