WIPO Seminar For Journalists Held In Singapore
This seminar was organised, from 5 to 7 November 2007, to sensitise journalists to the value of intellectual property (IP) as a tool for economic development, and to the issues surrounding this topic.? The seminar sought to forge a deeper understanding of IP amongst journalists as well as to raise public awareness of IP amongst decision makers and the general public.?
Mr. Alvin Sim, Deputy Director/Legal Counsel of the Legal Policy and International Affairs Department (LPIAD), and an officer from the Intellectual Property Rights Branch (IPRB) of the Singapore Police Force contributed to this effort.? They gave a joint talk on “IP Policies, Enforcement & Education ? The Singapore Approach” which focused on the issues and challenges shaping Singapore's IP enforcement policy, enforcement provisions copyright and trademark legislation, how enforcement is balanced with education efforts and the evolution of enforcement challenges on the ground.?
