Phase 2 Operates Smoothly

The new exhibition complex at Pazhou has stood the test of "China's No.1 Fair" under the new situation, new exhibition period and new system, said Mu Xinhai, spokesman of the Canton Fair.

The fair has achieved its goal and created new opportunities for exhibitors, Mu said as he commented on the operation of the Phase 2 of the fair that ended on Friday.

The Phase 2 has set up 16 exhibition areas for three categories of "Daily Necessities", "Gifts" and "Home Decoration Items". There are 18,611 exhibition booths in total,
including 3,448 booths for brandname product producers. Statistics indicate that 6,516 enterprises have taken part in the fair, including 520 enterprises that have their own
brand products.

The Phase 2 has taken full consideration to the situations of various export products from different regions and better satisfied different demands of enterprises for exhibition booths. It has created opportunities for various enterprises to explore international market and laid a solid foundation for further improving the exhibition level.

According to the exhibitors, the timely increase in the export rebate rates to some products has a positive effect on the result of exports.

According to Mu, the Phase 2 has clinched $8.31 billion worth of exports with 53,267 foreign buyers. The EU, US and Middle East ranked the top three in volume during the Phase 2, hitting $2.76 billion, $1.17 billion and $770 million respectively.

The top fi ve trading delegations are Guangdong Delegation with $2.23 billion, Zhejiang Delegation with $1.12 billion, Jiangsu Delegation with $710 million, Shandong
Delegation with $600 million and Shanghai with $580 million. The turnover achieved by the privateowned enterprises, State-owned enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises have reached $5 billion, $1.8 billion and $1.53 billion respectively, accounting for 60.2%, 21.7% and 18.3% of the total volume.

Visits to the fair's websites accumulated to 80 million times and the online intent transaction reached $100 million.

Mu said China's export industry has gained distinctive advantage in competition. The complaint offi ce for intellectual property right protection, product quality and safety and trade conflict complaints at the Phase 2 received 283 reports of infringement with 335 enterprises involved. Among them, 189 cases were about patent, accounting for 66.8 percent, 53 cases were about brands, accounting for 18.7 percent and 41 cases were about copyright.

The number of buyers attending the Phase 1 and 2 of the Fair amounted to 140,572, with $24.76 billion of transactions. Visit to the offi cial website of the fair hit 130 million times with online transaction of $500 million.
