Manufacturing of China

Since the reform and opening-up, China's manufacturing industry develops rapidly, whose whole scale has ranked fourth in the world, showing decided superiority. Currently, as the polar industry of Chinese national economy, manufacturing industry is the leading department of China 's economy growth and base of economic transform. Manufacturing industry is also the main channel of Chinese town employment and the centralization reflection of international competitiveness as the back-up of economic and social development. In the past over 20 years, manufacturing industry is the key mark of Chinese comprehensive national strength elevation, whose overall development as well as optimization and upgrade has basically established the status of "manufacture country" and laid a strong foundation for realizing the transform of "manufacture power".

In 2007, total industrial added value throughout the year stood at RMB10.7367t, up by13.5% year-on-year. Added value of industries above scale increased by18.5%. Among them, state-owned and state-owned holding enterprises increased by13.8%, which realized a profit of RMB 9662 billion, up by29.6%; collective enterprises by11.5%, a profit of RMB 566 billion, up by25.2%; stock enterprises by20.6%, a profit of RMB12209 billion, up by35.1%; foreign-capital and Hong Kong, Marco, and Taiwan investment enterprises by17.5%, a profit of RMB 6126 billion, up by34.3%; private enterprises by26.7%, a profit of RMB 4000 billion, up by50.9%.
Major industrial production volume increased quickly. In 2007, total volume of primary energy production stood at 2.37billion tons of standard coal, up by7.0% year-on-year; 2.536billion tons of raw coal, up by6.9%; 187million tons of crude oil, up by1.1%; 69.31billion cubic meters of natural gas, up by18.4%; 3.27772t kWh of electricity, up by14.4%, among which thermal power generation was 2.72183t kWh, up by14.9%; hydroelectricity 482.88billion kWh, up by10.8%. Raw coal consumption reached 2.58billion tons, up by7.9%; crude oil consumption 340million tons, up by6.3%; natural gas consumption 67.3billion cubic meters, up by19.9%; electricity consumption 3.2632t kWh, up by14.1%. Crude steel production output amounted to 489.66million tons, up by16.8% year-on-year; steel products 568.964million tons, up by21.3%; cement 1.36billion tons, up by9.9%. Ten kinds of nonferrous metal increased by22.7%. Main chemical products such as Sulfuric acid, Sodium carbonate, Sodium hydroxide and ethylene increased by9.3% to 16.4% respectively. Automobile production volume reached 8.887 million, up by22.1%, among which cars were 4.798million, up by24%.

On the foreign capital utilization, manufacturing industry took the lead all the time. In 2007, the number of foreign capital projects manufacturing industry utilized reached 19193, accounting for 50.68%, down by22.6% year-on-year and actual utilization amount of foreign capital was USD40.86b, accounting for 54.65%, down by4.6%.

China 's main task is to realize industrialization in the new century which generally refers to the process of the labor force increase in manufacturing industry and the second industry and the labor force reduction in the primary industry. Currently, China is in the middle stage of industrialization and hasn't yet realized industrialization. With the rapid development of global science and technology reform, waves of information swept across the globe, under which circumstances China had thrown away traditional industrialization way. New industrialization possesses many advantages such as high science and technology content, good economic returns, low resource consumption, little environment pollution and full use of human resource advantage, among which the first four aspects are the demands that China adjust the change of global scientific and technological progress and sustainable development of economy, the fifth one is put forward on the base of China's abundant human resources. Going new industrialization way needs the drive of reform and opening-up as well as scientific and technological advance, strengthens the ability of independent innovation, encourages and supports development of advanced productivity, restricts and eliminates backward productivity, prevents blind investment and low-level reconstruction and promotes industry structure optimization and upgrade, which will be China's major work on adjusting industry structure in future. It's a primary task for China 's manufacturing industry to pursue the development mode of saving, environment protection and safety.
