Shanghai Customs Protection of Intellectual Property Rights

Adhering to the"Agreements on the Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights", Shanghai Customs has strictly implemented its Rules of the People's Republic of

China

on Customs Protection of Intellectual Property Rights to fight infringement and counterfeiting. Such famous trademark Infringement cases as"Benz", "Kodak", "Philips", "Osram", "Galaxy" and "Diamond" have been seized in succession.

In 2005, 150 IPR infringement cases worth of 45 million RMB were seized. Shanghai Customs has taken the lead in establishing an IPR Information Center on the Internet. Apart from that, as a member of Shanghai Intellectual Property Rights Coordinating Conference, Shanghai Customs can share information with such relevant departments as Shanghai Intellectual Property Office, Shanghai Industry and Commerce Bureau, and Shanghai Copyright Office as well as Shanghai Public Bureau. Also the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Display Room of Shanghai Customs was set up in late of 2005 showcasing more than 400 pieces of infringed goods seized at the port of Shanghai. It reflects our achievements that have been made during the past decade in IPR protection.
