EU ends China modem investigation

China's Ministry of Commerce said that it appreciated the EU bringing an investigation into Chinese wireless wide-area-networking (WWAN) modems to an end.
The decision, which was announced by the European Commission March 04, 2011, will boost the stable development of China-EU trade relations, a statement from the ministry said.
The EU launched an anti-subsidy probe into the WWAN modems from China in September following an anti-dumping investigation and a safeguard measure probe into the modems in June.
The EU had already ended the safeguard-measure probe January 25.
This closed yet another chapter in the tale of trade investigations against China, involving a total of $4.1 billion in exports.
The complaint from EU modem makers was withdrawn in October after the sides hammered out a cooperation agreement.
