To enhance the core competitiveness and the capability of independent innovation of Chinese enterprises, promoting industrial restructuring and upgrading, Chinese government decided to adjust imports tariff policies of major technologies and equipments. Since July 1, 2009, import duties and import VAT on key components and raw materials for the production of the major technical equipments and products whose development are supported by the country will be exempted. At the same time, cancel the import duty-free policy for the whole machine and complete sets of equipment. As for the Chinese-made equipments which can not yet fully meet the demand and still need to be imported, they will continue to be given preferential treatment of imports within a certain period of time which includes gradually reducing the preferential margins and narrowing the tax-free scope under strict auditing.
