According to the news on the website of the Ministry of Finance of China, to further generalize the use of energy-efficient air-conditioners and to expand the influence of providing energy-efficient products for the people, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission of China recently jointly issued the Notice on Adjusting Financial Subsidy for the Generalization of Energy-Efficient Air-conditioners (hereinafter referred to as the Notice), announcing to adjust the subsidy policy for the generalization of energy-efficient air-conditioners along with the implementation of a new standard of energy efficiency.

As per the Notice, the subsidy policy for energy-efficient air-conditioners is to extend for another one year as from June 1, 2010, and the central finance will continue to offer subsidies for products with energy-efficiency level 2 and above according to the new standard, the implementation period till May 31, 2011. The subsidized shall be limited to air-conditioners with rated refrigerating capacity no more than 7,500w. The subsidy is to be adjusted to the range between CNY 150 and CNY 250 based on the cost variance between those of efficiency level 1/2 and those of level 3 after implementation of the new energy-efficiency standard. In addition, the frequency-conversion air-conditioners are to be under the research for timely generalization.
