MOFCOM Preliminarily Determined Restrictive Measures on Polysilicon
[2010-06-18 08:20:12]
In May 2010, the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) held two conferences, discussing on adding polysilicon industry to the list of "Two Highs" (high energy consumption and high pollution). It is learned that the restrictive measures on polysilicon have been preliminarily determined.
"The restrictive measures on polysilicon have also been basically determined, that is no allowance for export and processing trade of polysilicon products," an insider said.
In 2009, China's output of polysilicon was about 20,000 tons, still requiring imports of around a half. Moreover, China's polysilicon products are of inferior quality. Therefore, it is considered that the restrictive measures from MOFCOM on polysilicon industry have a limited short-term impact.
