China to Implement New Laws and Regulations on Imported Cosmetics

[2010-07-05 14:34:06]

In accordance with China's national standard B5296.3-2008 of Instruction for Use of Consumer Products-General Labeling for Cosmetics, from June 17, 2010 (excluding June 17, 2010), the imported cosmetics shall be veritably labeled with the names of all their ingredients on their visible appearance, the ingredients with proportions more than 1% be listed in descending order. And the characters written in the labels shall be normative simplified Chinese characters (other forms of characters allowed in concurrent use) except those in trademarks registered according to laws.

China's Inspection and Quarantine authorities remind consumers to pay attention to identifying and choosing imported cosmetics with eligible identifications while buying such products; and also remind related dealers and agents that the identifications and labels of the imported cosmetics shall conform to the new standards so as to avoid unnecessary economic losses caused by the return of goods because of their ineligible identifications and labels.
